2010 Leaf MMA #88
The earliest Eddie Alvarez card either source can show, and the only one issued while he was Bellator's lightweight champion. It comes from Leaf's unlicensed multi-promotion MMA set (originally announced as Razor MMA, released 22 September 2010), which is why it carries no Bellator or UFC marks even though Alvarez had held the inaugural Bellator lightweight title since June 2009. Every Topps card of his is four years later, so this is the whole pre-UFC record of his cardboard.
Collectibles.com flags 2010 Leaf MMA #88 as a Rookie Card; SportsCardsPro's rookie field on the same card says 'No'. No card database could be consulted to break the tie, and the unlicensed nature of the Leaf product is itself a reason collectors argue about it.
Sellers routinely describe 2014 Topps UFC Bloodlines #3 as the Alvarez rookie because it is his first Topps card; it is his first UFC-licensed card, not his first card. Buyers should also watch the number 3, which Topps reused for him in 2018 Chrome — the two are unrelated cards from different products.

Alvarez's cardboard begins seven years into his career, in an unlicensed set. Leaf's rebranded Razor MMA release of 22 September 2010 gave him base #88 and his first certified autograph, #AUEA1, with Purple /25 and Gold /5 versions; because Leaf held no promotional licence, neither card carries a mark of the Bellator lightweight title he had held since June 2009. Those two cards are the whole of his pre-UFC record — no licensed Bellator product from either of his title reigns turns up in any reachable catalogue, and his 2008 DREAM Grand Prix run produced nothing traceable either.
The rookie question is unsettled. Collectibles.com labels 2010 Leaf MMA #88 a Rookie Card; SportsCardsPro's rookie field on the same card reads 'No', and no second checklist breaks the tie. Sellers usually call 2014 Topps UFC Bloodlines #3 his rookie instead, but that is his first UFC-licensed card rather than his first card, and SportsCardsPro flags it 'No' as well — as it does 2016 Knockout #20 and 2018 Chrome #3. The archive records #88 as his earliest card and leaves the RC designation alone.
Topps picked him up only after UFC 178. Bloodlines, out 17 December 2014, made him #3 in a 140-card set with Flag, Black /25, Ruby Red /8 and Platinum 1/1 parallels, and gave him his first UFC-licensed signature at #FA-EA /225 with a Red /8. The 30 March 2016 Knockout release beat his title win over Rafael dos Anjos by three months, so base #20 still shows a contender; the prizes from that product are the multi-signed hits, Triumphant Trios #TTT-WAT /10 with Fabricio Werdum and Tecia Torres and the Dominant Duos #WA /10 with Werdum.
The first Topps Chrome UFC in 2017 left the former lightweight champion out of its 100-card base set and signed him only for Fighter Autographs #FA-EA, whose refractor ladder runs Green /99, Gold /50, Orange /25, Black /10, Red /5 and SuperFractor 1/1. 2018 was his last Topps year before ONE Championship: Chrome base #3 — the same number Bloodlines had used, so check the set name rather than the number — plus Knockout base #36 and #KAR-EA, the only Alvarez card to pair a signature with a swatch, in Blue /35, Purple /25, Red /8 and Gold 1/1.
Then seven years with nothing: his ONE Championship spell and the entire Panini UFC run of 2021-2023 produced no Alvarez cards. PFL's takeover of Bellator ended the drought — Panini Contenders PFL, released 18 July 2025, has him at Season Ticket #71 in a 100-card set, with a Crown Jewels insert at #17 and a ticket ladder running to a Championship Ticket 1/1, and the 5 August 2026 release returns him at #63. Fifteen years after his first Bellator belt, these are the closest thing to a licensed card of that lineage he has.

2016 Topps UFC Knockout shipped on 30 March, three months before he stopped Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight title, so base #20 still shows a contender. The multi-signed hits are the prize from this product: Triumphant Trios #TTT-WAT /10 with Werdum and Torres, and Dominant Duos #WA /10 with Werdum.

It is recorded here as his earliest card rather than a true rookie card for two reasons: SportsCardsPro's rookie field for the same card reads 'No', and the product is unlicensed — Cardboard Connection describes 2010 Leaf MMA as the rebranded Razor MMA release, with no promotional licence, issued seven years into Alvarez's professional career and a year after he had already won a world title.
