Why this card matters
Alvarez's first card in a UFC-licensed product, and the one that closes the gap between the 2010 Leaf issues and the Topps era. Cardboard Connection dates 2014 Topps UFC Bloodlines to 17 December 2014, so it followed his UFC 178 debut loss to Donald Cerrone by under three months — he is card #3 in a 140-card base set, unusually high placement for a fighter with one UFC fight to his name. This is the card most collectors reach for when they want 'the first Topps Alvarez'.
