It is his first card in a mainstream US pack-issued product and the first card Topps made of him, a year before Topps held the UFC licence. Topps put Rampage in a baseball product because in 2008 it had no UFC licence — Allen & Ginter has always carried outside-the-lines subjects, and he arrived in it as the reigning-then-recent UFC light heavyweight champion. That makes it a genuine oddity: the accepted rookie card of a UFC champion sits in a baseball set, a year ahead of the first Topps UFC release.
There is no consensus rookie card for Rampage. eBay's catalogue puts (RC) on the 2008 Allen & Ginter #189; SportsCardsPro explicitly says 'No' on both 2009 Topps UFC base cards and has no page at all for the Allen & Ginter card; and a separate group of sellers treats the 2006 Pride FC #93 as the rookie because it is earliest.
