Why this card matters

The Japanese PRIDE set is where Rampage's card history actually begins, two years before any American manufacturer issued him. It catches him in the PRIDE run that made his name — the 2003 grand prix, the Chuck Liddell win, the Wanderlei Silva losses — rather than in a UFC uniform. Anyone assembling a complete Jackson run has to go through Japanese sellers or graded slabs to start it.

Identification

  • Card #93; two subjects on the card, Jackson with Ikuhisa Minowa
  • The base run is 142 cards, so #93 sits well inside it rather than in a short insert; the 583-card figure quoted for the product counts every variation, not base cards
  • Foil copies circulate as Gold Foil Signature and Silver Foil Signature variations; listings often say only 'Foil', so check which one you are buying
Often confused with
The 2006 Pride FC card is Rampage's official rookie card.It is his earliest card, but the 'Rookie' label on these listings is seller-entered. No catalogue designates it RC, and the hobby's RC flag for Jackson sits on the 2008 Topps Allen & Ginter #189.

Disputed

Sources disagree

The number and subjects rest on two independently graded copies (a BGS 9.5 and a PSA 8) that agree on #93. No full published checklist for the 2006 DSE product exists outside Cardbase, which confirms the set and its 142-card base run but not this entry, so no independent checklist confirmation of the number has been found. The set's producer is also unconfirmed — Cardbase and Sports Card Investor both describe the set without naming a manufacturer, so 'Pride FC' here is the set name, not a verified maker. Sports Card Investor's price guide for the set tracks only twelve fighters and does not include Jackson at all.

Uncertain
