Edgar fought four times in the UFC before Topps held the licence, so his first card is a 2009 one: Round 1 #60, a dual-subject fight card shared with Tyson Griffin that commemorates his UFC 67 debut. Dealers sell it as the rookie, but 2009 Topps UFC carries no RC logo and SportsCardsPro's rookie field for #60 reads 'No', so the designation is convention rather than a printed flag. 2009 Topps UFC Round 1 #60

Edgar's first trading card, and one of the dual-subject fight cards that made up part of the Round 1 base set: it pairs him with Tyson Griffin, the opponent he beat by unanimous decision on his UFC debut at UFC 67 on 3 February 2007. Because Topps only picked up the UFC licence in 2009, this February 2009 release is the earliest Edgar cardboard of any kind — nothing exists from his 2005-2008 run through the Underground Combat League, Ring of Combat and his first four UFC fights. Collectors chasing it have to accept that it is a shared card rather than a solo portrait.

Where sources disagree

Whether Edgar has a designated rookie card at all. SportsCardsPro's rookie data field reads 'No' for Round 1 #60, Round 2 #88, 2019 Topps UFC Chrome #4 and 2021 Panini Prizm UFC #158 alike, and 2009 Topps UFC printed no RC logo; dealers nonetheless advertise Round 1 #60 as the rookie card. TCDB, the usual source for an RC flag, could not be consulted, so no flag could be confirmed or ruled out.

Commonly misidentified

Sellers list the Round 1 #60 Gold, Silver /288 and Black /888 parallels as 'the rookie' when they are parallels of the same base card. Round 2 #88 is also sold as the rookie on the strength of being his first solo card, which it is — but it is not his first card.

Card history

Edgar had already fought through the Underground Combat League, Ring of Combat and four UFC bouts before a card of him existed, because Topps did not hold the UFC licence until 2009. His first card is therefore retrospective: Round 1 #60, from the February 2009 release, one of the dual-subject fight cards in that base run, pairing him with Tyson Griffin — the opponent he beat on decision at UFC 67 on 3 February 2007. Parallels run Gold unnumbered, Black /888, Silver /288 and a Red 1/1.

Dealers sell #60 as the rookie, but the designation is convention rather than a printed flag: 2009 Topps UFC carries no RC logo anywhere, and SportsCardsPro's rookie field reads 'No' for #60 and for every later Edgar card it catalogues. Two things get mislabelled as a result — the Gold, Silver /288 and Black /888 versions of #60, which are parallels of one base card, and Round 2 #88, which is genuinely his first solo card but came seven months later. The only solo Edgar card in Round 1 is the insert VD-19, from the 20-card Victorious Debuts run, captioned for UFC 67.

Round 2, released 30 September 2009, carried base #88 and his first certified autograph, Fighter Autographs #FA-FE from the subset seeded around one in eight packs — he is absent from the Round 1 autograph checklist, so nothing signed precedes it. Both cards show him as a contender: they are the last Edgar issues before he took the lightweight title from B.J. Penn at UFC 112 the following April. Checklists disagree on the Round 2 base parallels, one giving Gold, Silver /188, Bronze /88, Ruby /8 and Diamond 1/1 and another giving Gold, Onyx /188, Ruby /8 and Diamond 1/1 with no Bronze at all.

The title year gave him three Topps base cards at once. Series 4 on 24 September 2010 put him at #48 in a 200-card set with Gold, Silver /188, Bronze /88, Ruby /8 and Diamond 1/1 versions, and carried his first confirmed relic, Ultimate Gear #UG-FE, with Gold /188, Onyx /88, Red /8 and Diamond 1/1 — he was not in the 2009 Ultimate Gear checklist, so his relic history starts here. Main Event #51 was the retail companion and the easiest 2010 Edgar to find clean, and December's high-end Knockout release closed the year at #36. Watch the code FA-FE: Topps used it for a different Edgar autograph in Series 4 than the one in Round 2.

After the title years his cards thin out until Topps regained the licence in 2019, when UFC Chrome put him at base #4 — his first chrome-stock card, issued as a featherweight veteran — with Knockout #55 alongside it. Panini picked him up in 2021, the year he moved to bantamweight, at Prizm UFC #158 and Select UFC #4. The run closes where it should: his 2024 induction into the Hall of Fame's Modern Wing made him eligible for Topps Royalty's Golden Hall Autographs, and #GH-FE appeared in the 2025 product numbered to 99 with Blue /25, Gold /10, Green /5 and a Platinum 1/1 above it. He is not in the 2024 Golden Hall checklist, which lists nineteen names without him.

Round 1 — a debut card, not a champion's

Topps' first UFC set gave Edgar base #60 opposite Tyson Griffin and a solo Victorious Debuts insert, VD-19, both built around the UFC 67 decision. He is not on the Round 1 autograph checklist.

The 30 September release carried base #88, his first single-subject base card, and Fighter Autographs #FA-FE, the earliest certified Edgar autograph found. Both predate the belt.

Champion year, three Topps base cards

After beating B.J. Penn at UFC 112 he landed in all three 2010 Topps products: Series 4 #48 (24 September), Main Event #51 and the December Knockout release at #36, plus his first confirmed relic, Ultimate Gear #UG-FE.

Topps back on chrome
