Alex Pereira

Pereira's rookie is genuinely disputed. His first cards are two print-to-order 2022 Panini Instant cards (#79, print run 616, and #139, print run 784), and eBay's catalog labels both RC, but TCDB gives the RC flag only to his 2023 cards, starting with Prizm #111 (April 2023) and Donruss Rated Rookie #209 (June 2023). The chase cards are the low-numbered Prizm #111 colours, the Color Blast insert and the 2023 Select Rookie Signatures, and since 2024 his Topps Chrome UFC cards have added a second layer.

Rookie card · working pick Rookie disputed

2023 Panini Prizm UFC #111

His first RC-flagged card in a pack-issued flagship set, released five months after he beat Israel Adesanya for the middleweight title. Sports Card Investor and resale listings treat it as his main rookie, and it has a deep Prizm rainbow; the Gold /10 is the top numbered target.

Where sources disagree

Contested. (1) 2022 Panini Instant #79 (print run 616) and #139 (print run 784) are his first cards; eBay's product catalog lists both as '(RC)' with the 'Rookie' feature, but TCDB lists them without an RC flag. (2) TCDB flags 2023 Panini Prizm UFC #111, 2023 Donruss UFC #209 and 2023 Donruss Optic UFC #108 as RC; Donruss and Optic also carry Rated Rookie (RR) flags. (3) SportsCardsPro's data fields show 'Is Rookie Card: No' for Prizm #111, while its sales listings call it RC. That leaves three candidates: 'first card' (Instant), 'first flagship RC' (Prizm #111) and 'Rated Rookie' (Donruss #209).

Commonly misidentified

Rookie-year inserts and autographs get sold as rookies. Sellers title 2023 Prizm Color Blast #9 'ROOKIE Color Blast', and 2023 Select Rookie Signatures RS-APR is rookie-branded by name, but TCDB flags neither as RC. Neither is a candidate in the rookie dispute.

Card history

Pereira's first licensed cards were two print-to-order 2022 Panini Instant UFC cards: #79 and #139 (TCDB print-run flag PR784). TCDB doesn't flag either as RC, which is one reason his rookie card is disputed.

2023 was his main Panini year. Prizm (released April 28, 2023) had the RC-flagged #111 and the Throwback Signatures autograph TH-AXP. Donruss Optic (November 15, 2023) added a Rated Rookie at #108, with autographed Signatures versions.

Panini's run closed with 2023 Immaculate Collection UFC (release date January 5, 2024). It has his rookie memorabilia autograph #108 /99 and the DA-AI dual autograph /25 with Israel Adesanya.

Topps held the UFC licence from 2009 to 2020, then Panini had it for three years. In January 2024 Fanatics announced Topps' return, starting with 2024 Topps Chrome UFC. Since then Pereira has appeared in Topps products, starting with Chrome #4 and a Future Stars autograph.

Alex Pereira's rookie card: 2023 Panini Prizm UFC #111 — Alex Pereira.

Of the RC-flagged cards on TCDB, 2023 Panini Prizm UFC #111 was released first (April 28, 2023, vs June 9, 2023 for Donruss #209) and comes from Panini's flagship UFC chrome brand. Resale listings and Sports Card Investor treat it as his main rookie (SportsCardsPro's sales listings call it RC, though its own data field does not). This is recorded as the working pick only; the dispute is not resolved. The 2022 Panini Instant cards came first and eBay's catalog labels both RC, while TCDB does not flag them RC. DISPUTE: Contested. Collectors split between 'first card' (Instant), 'first flagship RC' (Prizm #111) and 'Rated Rookie' (Donruss #209).
