Michael Chandler

Chandler won the Bellator lightweight title three times between 2011 and 2019 and came out of that decade with no cards at all: Bellator ran no licensed trading-card programme while he was there, and the Panini Instant Bellator issues only began in 2024, four years after he left. His cardboard starts the moment the UFC signed him — 2021 Panini Prizm UFC #194, released April 28, 2021, three months after he flattened Dan Hooker at UFC 257. Panini then filed a 34-year-old former world champion in its rookie class, which is why his most interesting cards are a Select Rookie Signatures #RS-MCH /99 and an Optic Rated Rookies Signatures #RR-MCH.

2021 Panini Prizm UFC #194

Chandler fought professionally for eleven and a half years, won the Bellator lightweight title three times and never had a licensed card until Panini's Prizm UFC arrived on April 28, 2021, three months after his first-round demolition of Dan Hooker at UFC 257. #194 sits in the back half of the 200-card base set and is the earliest Chandler card any source consulted could produce. Everything the hobby has of his Bellator decade is a photograph on a 2021-or-later Panini or Topps card.

Where sources disagree

Whether #194 is a true rookie card or simply his first card. Collectibles.com files it as '194 RC'; SportsCardsPro's item panel answers 'Is Rookie Card: No' for #194 and for every other 2021 Chandler card checked. No source consulted shows a printed RC logo on any of them, so the rookie status rests on Panini's rookie-class treatment rather than on a logo.

Commonly misidentified

Sellers describing a Prizm parallel (Green, Silver, Gold /10) as 'the rookie' — they are parallels of #194. Collectors who expect a Bellator rookie card from 2011, when he beat Eddie Alvarez for the title: no such card was ever licensed.

Card history

Chandler turned pro in August 2009, took the Bellator lightweight title off Eddie Alvarez in November 2011 and held it three separate times, and came out of that whole decade with no cards. Bellator ran no licensed trading-card programme while he was there, and the Panini products that later covered the promotion do not include him, so there is no 2011 title card to find and nothing at all from eleven and a half years of fighting. Everything the hobby has of his Bellator years is a photograph on a card printed in 2021 or later.

His cardboard starts the moment the UFC signed him. 2021 Panini Prizm UFC #194, released April 28, 2021, three months after he flattened Dan Hooker at UFC 257, is the earliest Chandler card any source produces, sitting in the horizontal half of the 200-card base set under a fifteen-tier ladder that ends at Gold /10, Lucky Envelopes and Octagon /8 and a Black 1/1. Whether it is a rookie card is a straight disagreement: one register files it as '#194 RC' and says he 'debuted as a Rookie in 2021', another answers plainly that it is not, and no source consulted shows a printed RC logo on it. Panini Instant's 54-card 2021 UFC checklist has no Chandler card at all, so the Hooker knockout that started it went uncommemorated.

The odd part of his run is that Panini filed a 34-year-old three-time world champion in its rookie class, which is where his most interesting cards come from. Select, July 30, 2021, gave him Premier Level base #183 with the Disco ladder over it down to a Black Disco 1/1, and the ten-card Rookie Signatures #RS-MCH, his earliest confirmed autograph, numbered /99 where most of that checklist runs /149 or /249. Chronicles followed on October 6 with base cards in the Luminance and Rookies & Stars blocks, #56 and #83, and the Optic Rated Rookies Signatures #RR-MCH with Gold and Red parallels — the closest thing he has to a card that says 'rookie' on the front. Sources also differ on how the Select autograph is numbered, one giving RS-MCH and another simply 8.

By 2022 Panini had moved him to the front of the checklist: 2022 Panini Prizm UFC #8, out March 25, between the Justin Gaethje loss and the front-kick knockout of Tony Ferguson, with a Signatures autograph at #38 in the same product. Topps then took the licence back, and 2024 Topps Chrome UFC #136 on March 20, 2024 is his first Topps card, with the full Speckle /299 to SuperFractor 1/1 ladder and Main Event Autographs #MEA-MCH — his first signature issued to him as an established name rather than out of a rookie-branded insert. An All the Glory insert #ATG-1 came from the same set. All of it arrived during the fifteen-month layoff waiting on the Conor McGregor fight.

2025 Topps Chrome UFC #143, June 27, 2025, came ten weeks after Paddy Pimblett stopped him at UFC 314, and Topps built a veteran's slate around it: Chrome Veteran Autographs #CVA-MC, UFC Signatures #SIG-MC, the retail Allen & Ginter mini #AAG-17 and Big Ticket #BTT-29. Mauricio Ruffy knocked him out in the first round at UFC Freedom 250 on June 14, 2026, and Topps' 30-card commemorative set for the event lists him at base #23 with a relic and a UFC Dollar insert. Stadium Club UFC on August 14, 2026 is his most recent base card, #25, with a Chrome version #CB-25 and Fight Motion Autographs #FMA-MC.

Card eras

2009–2020
Three Bellator belts, no cardboard

He turned pro on August 8, 2009, debuted for Bellator on September 30, 2010 and won the lightweight title from Eddie Alvarez on November 19, 2011, then held it twice more. Bellator issued no licensed cards in that period, and the Panini products that later covered the promotion — 2024 Panini Instant Bellator, 2025 Panini Combat Anthology — do not include him.

2021
Rookie year at 34

2021 Panini Prizm UFC #194 (April 28) is his first card. Select followed on July 30 with base #183 and the rookie-branded Rookie Signatures #RS-MCH /99, and Chronicles on October 6 with base cards #56 and #83 plus Optic Rated Rookies Signatures #RR-MCH. Panini Instant UFC's 54-card 2021 checklist has no Chandler card at all, so the Hooker knockout that started it went uncommemorated.

2022
Front of the checklist

2022 Panini Prizm UFC, out March 25, moved him up to #8 among the 200 base cards and, per Cardboard Connection, gave him a Signatures autograph at #38.

2024
Topps takes the licence

Topps Chrome UFC (March 20, 2024) produced his first Topps card, #136, with the full Speckle-to-SuperFractor ladder, his first Topps signature in Main Event Autographs #MEA-MCH, and an All the Glory insert #ATG-1 — all issued while he sat out waiting for the Conor McGregor fight.

2025
Veteran slate

2025 Topps Chrome UFC #143 (June 27) came after the UFC 314 loss to Paddy Pimblett, and Topps surrounded it with Chrome Veteran Autographs #CVA-MC, UFC Signatures #SIG-MC, the retail Allen & Ginter mini #AAG-17 and Big Ticket #BTT-29.

2026
Freedom 250 and Stadium Club

Mauricio Ruffy knocked him out in the first round at UFC Freedom 250 on June 14, 2026; Topps' 30-card commemorative set for the event lists him at base #23 with a relic #23-R and a UFC Dollar insert #UD-23. Stadium Club UFC followed on August 14 with base #25, Chrome #CB-25 and Fight Motion Autographs #FMA-MC, and Topps Midnight added Horizon Signatures #HZS-MC.

Michael Chandler's rookie card: 2021 Panini Prizm UFC #194 — Michael Chandler.

2021 Panini Prizm UFC #194 is the earliest Michael Chandler card that any reachable source records, and it comes from the first licensed UFC product released after he signed (April 28, 2021, three months after UFC 257). Collectibles.com lists it as '194 RC' and states plainly that 'Michael Chandler debuted as a Rookie in 2021'. Panini's own 2021 rookie-branded subsets back that up: Select Rookie Signatures #RS-MCH and Chronicles Optic Rated Rookies Signatures #RR-MCH both put a three-time Bellator champion in the 2021 rookie class. Nothing earlier exists to compete with it — his Bellator decade produced no licensed cards, and the SportsCardsPro catalogue, the Collectibles.com register and the Cardboard Connection player page (404) turned up no pre-2021 issue of any kind.
