Collector profile “The Beast”

Brock Lesnar

Lesnar's cards cover three sports. His rookie is a 2002 Fleer WWE card, he has 2004 football RCs from his Vikings camp, and 2009 Topps UFC Round 1 #81 shows his UFC debut against Frank Mir. For UFC collectors the core run is Round 1 #81, Round 2 #69 and the Round 2 FA-BL autograph, which Cardboard Connection names as his first. After that come the 2010 Leaf multi-signers with Fedor, Carwin and Velasquez, and a 2024 Topps Chrome Main Event auto /150.

Rookie card

2002 Fleer WWE Raw vs. SmackDown! #19

Lesnar's first mainstream trading card, from a Fleer set released 24 July 2002, four months after his WWE main-roster debut (18 March 2002). It's a Raw Edition card showing him lifting an opponent. The same set has a second Lesnar card, #86, with The Rock.

Commonly misidentified

Royal Rumble #4 is often called 'the' Lesnar rookie. It is RC-flagged but came later than Raw vs. SmackDown #19. UFC sellers label 2009 Round 1 #81 and Round 2 #69 'RC'; both are MMA rookies, not his first cards. The printed facsimile signature on #19 gets mistaken for a real autograph.

03

Card history

Cardboard Connection says 'Brock Lesnar's first appearance on cardboard came in 2002 Fleer WWE Raw vs. Smackdown'. TCDB flags both that set's #19 and 2002 Fleer Royal Rumble #4 as rookie cards. Fleer's WWE sets also gave him early event-used memorabilia cards: a Royal Rumble event-worn shirt in 2002, and Aggression mat and shirt cards and WrestleMania XIX mat cards in 2003.

His 2004 try-out with the Minnesota Vikings produced four football rookie cards: Leaf Rookies & Stars #155, its Longevity version /999, Playoff Honors #173 /425 and Upper Deck Sweet Spot #203 /999. Slam Wrestling reported the Playoff Honors release in October 2004, noting 425 copies plus 100 parallels.

Cardboard Connection says 'the first Brock Lesnar MMA cards are in 2009 Topps UFC Round 1' and that Round 2 'had his first autographs', with Press Pass Fusion signatures arriving around the same time. It also warns that Lesnar 'has a surprisingly very limited amount of legitimate signed material', so buyers should take extra care with uncertified autographs.

Lesnar signed more for UFC-era products in 2010: Topps UFC Series 4 (a new FA-BL autograph and a Thoughts From The Boss dual with Dana White /25), Knockout (a dual mat autograph with Frank Mir /10) and unlicensed Leaf MMA duals and quads with Fedor, Carwin and Velasquez. The 2011 Moment of Truth Elite Skills autograph followed. After that, his next UFC-licensed signature on our list is the 2024 Topps Chrome UFC Main Event Autograph, issued after Topps regained the licence.
