Why this is the rookie

Cardboard Connection says Lesnar's 'first appearance on cardboard came in 2002 Fleer WWE Raw vs. Smackdown'. TCDB flags #19 RC, and SportsCardsPro lists it as [Rookie]. The set came out on 24 July 2002, before 2002 Fleer WWE Absolute Divas #49 (with Paul Heyman, 2 October 2002) and Royal Rumble #4 (December 2002), per WrestlingTradingCards.com. Royal Rumble #4 also carries RC flags on TCDB and SportsCardsPro, which makes it his second RC. For his MMA cards alone, the first card is 2009 Topps UFC Round 1 #81 (TCDB RC flag; Cardboard Connection: 'The first Brock Lesnar MMA cards are in 2009 Topps UFC Round 1').

Lesnar's first mainstream trading card, from a Fleer set released 24 July 2002, four months after his WWE main-roster debut (18 March 2002). It's a Raw Edition card showing him lifting an opponent. The same set has a second Lesnar card, #86, with The Rock.

Commonly misidentified

Royal Rumble #4 is often called 'the' Lesnar rookie. It is RC-flagged but came later than Raw vs. SmackDown #19. UFC sellers label 2009 Round 1 #81 and Round 2 #69 'RC'; both are MMA rookies, not his first cards. The printed facsimile signature on #19 gets mistaken for a real autograph.
