Why this card matters
The earliest certified Shogun autograph any reachable catalogue records, and it is not a solo card: Topps put him with Jon Jones in a five-card subset numbered to 10 that Cardboard Connection describes as representing 'the lineage of title holders in the same fighting class'. A PRIDE grand-prix winner and UFC champion whose first signed card arrives in 2014, at ten copies, shared with another fighter, is the single most important thing to understand about collecting him.

Whether this is genuinely his first certified autograph rests on absence of evidence: Collectibles.com's card list shows nothing signed before it, and Allender's checklists for 2009 Round 1, 2009 Round 2, 2010 Round 4 and 2011 Finest show no Rua autograph in any of their signature subsets. An earlier signed card in a product not covered by those sources cannot be ruled out. The sticker-versus-on-card reading comes from the product review's general comment, not from a description of this card.
