Why this card matters

The base card of his championship year — he knocked out Lyoto Machida at UFC 113 on 8 May 2010 to take the light heavyweight title, and this is the Topps base card from that season. Allender's checklist also records a nickname variation of the same number, 'Shogun (Mauricio Rua)', with a print run of 250, which is the version of #96 worth chasing; the plain base card is common.

Identification

  • Base #96 in a 200-card set
  • Nickname variation of #96 reads 'Shogun' on the nameplate and is listed at a 250 print run by Allender
  • Base parallels per Allender: Gold (unnumbered), Onyx /88, Ruby /8, Diamond 1/1
  • SportsCardsPro catalogues the product as plain '2010 Topps UFC'; Allender titles it 'UFC Round 4'; other guides call it Series 4
Often confused with
The 'Shogun' nameplate card is a parallel of #96.Allender lists it as a nickname variation of the base card, not a colour parallel; its print run of 250 sits outside the Gold / Onyx / Ruby / Diamond ladder.

Disputed

Sources disagree

The nickname variation's 250 print run comes only from Allender's checklist; SportsCardsPro's page for #96 lists no variations at all. Parallel naming: the /88 tier is Bronze in Cardboard Connection's list and Onyx in Topps' own checklist naming, which is the name used across this product's FA- autographs and UG- relics. The archive records Onyx as the /88 tier and Silver as the /188 tier. Product naming is inconsistent across sources (Series 4 / Round 4 / plain 2010 Topps UFC), and the archive carries both a '2010-topps-ufc' and a '2010-topps-ufc-series-4' set record for what appears to be the same product — this file uses the Series 4 slug, as the archive's other PRIDE-era fighters do.
