Why this card matters
His card in Topps' 2010 flagship UFC product (Cardboard Connection calls it Series 4). It comes in two versions: #49a with his name and #49b with the nickname 'Bones'. Nickname variations are the offbeat side of early-Jones collecting, and #49b is easy to overlook when buying.
Identification
- Card #49 in the 200-card 2010 Topps UFC base set
- #49a: nameplate reads 'Jon Jones'
- #49b: nameplate reads 'Bones' (nickname variation; TCDB marks it SP)
- Base parallels: Gold, Silver /188, Bronze /88, Ruby /8, Diamond 1/1
Disputed
TCDB marks the #49b 'Bones' nickname variation as SP. Cardboard Connection lists the nickname variation but does not call it a short print. Parallel names also differ: Cardboard Connection gives Gold, Silver /188, Bronze /88, Ruby /8, Diamond 1/1, while TCDB's parallel sets are Gold, Onyx, Bronze, Red, Diamond.
