01

Why this card matters

His first UFC-licensed card, released 30 September 2009 — eleven years after his UFC debut against Vitor Belfort. For North American collectors who never saw the Japanese product, this is where Wanderlei's card history appears to begin, and the Ruby /8 and Diamond 1/1 parallels are the first genuinely short-printed Silva cards.

02

Identification

Missing a front scan. Contribute one.

  • Base card #21 in a 150-card set (100 fighters in Octagon competition, 40 UFC debuts, 10 personalities)
  • Four parallel treatments exist for all 150 base subjects: Gold (unnumbered), Onyx /188, Ruby /8, Diamond 1/1
  • Onyx copies carry a stamped serial on the front, e.g. 028/188

Disputed

Sources disagree

One SportsCardsPro fetch reported a 'Bronze /88' version of this card; Cardboard Connection's product page lists only Gold, Onyx /188, Ruby /8 and Diamond 1/1 for Round 2 base cards, and an eBay listing shows an Onyx-style 028/188. Bronze /88 is not recorded here because it could not be corroborated — /88 is the Knockout autograph print run, which is a likely confusion.
