Why this is the rookie

Topps printed the RC designation on him, and it landed in 2026 Topps Chrome UFC #94, released 8 May 2026. Checklist Insider reproduces the line as '94 Patricio Freire RC' in a checklist that marks rookies throughout, and SportsCardsPro's page for the card records it as a rookie card. No Topps UFC product before it contains him — 2025 Chrome, Midnight, Knockout, Finest, Royalty and Stadium Club were all checked and none lists him under either the Freire or the Pitbull spelling. The other RC-flagged card, 2026 Topps Stadium Club UFC #171, came three months later.

His rookie card, and his first card in a UFC-licensed product, arriving thirteen months after his UFC debut and twenty-two years into his professional career. Topps skipped him in every 2025 UFC release, so the Chrome refractor ladder is where a Pitbull collection effectively starts: the serial-numbered tiers from Gold /50 down to the SuperFractor 1/1 are the only scarce base-card versions he has.

Commonly misidentified

Patricio is routinely confused with his older brother Patricky 'Pitbull' Freire, who has his own cards — including 2025 Panini Combat Anthology MMA Stars Signatures #26, a Patricky card that listings sometimes shorten to 'Pitbull'. Any card captioned only 'Pitbull' needs the first name checked. Panini spells him 'Patrício Pitbull' while Topps spells him 'Patricio Freire', so the same fighter files under two names.

Identifying it

  • Base #94 in the 200-card 2026 Topps Chrome UFC set, released May 8, 2026.
  • Carries the printed RC logo — unusual on a 38-year-old with a four-time championship record.
  • Named 'Patricio Freire' on the card, not 'Pitbull'.

Card milestones

Five separate questions, kept separate. How these are defined.

The evidence behind each
  • 2025Earliest licensed card — Checklist Insider's 2025 Panini Contenders PFL checklist prints 'Crown Jewels #5 - Featherweight' for Patricio Pitbull and lists him nowhere else in the product, including the 100-card Season Ticket base set. No earlier card of him appears in any checklist source, and no Panini Instant Bellator card of him surfaced.
  • 2025First MMA card — Same Checklist Insider checklist. Nothing from 2010-2024 could be found in any catalogue, registry or checklist.
  • 2026First UFC card — Checklist Insider's 2026 Topps Chrome UFC checklist prints '94 Patricio Freire RC'. No Topps UFC product before it contains him: checked and negative for 2025 Topps Chrome UFC (27 June 2025), 2025 Topps Midnight UFC (8 August 2025), 2025 Topps Knockout UFC (24 October 2025), 2025 Topps Finest UFC (7 November 2025), 2025 Topps Royalty UFC (6 February 2026) and 2025 Topps Stadium Club UFC.
  • 2026First certified autograph — Checklist Insider prints 'BAV-PL Patricio Freire' in the Base Autographs subset, SportsCardsPro catalogues the Refractor as 2026 Topps Chrome UFC Autograph #BAV-PL, and a market listing titles it '2026 Topps Chrome UFC Patricio Freire Auto RC Rookie #BAV-PL'. No autograph of him exists in any earlier product.
  • 2026Recognized rookie card — Checklist Insider prints the line verbatim as '94 Patricio Freire RC' in a checklist that applies RC markers throughout (for example '4 Gabriel Santos RC'), and SportsCardsPro's card page for 2026 Topps Chrome UFC #94 answers 'Is Rookie Card: Yes'. 2026 Topps Stadium Club UFC #171 carries the same designation three months later.

Patricio Freire's rookie card: 2026 Topps Chrome UFC #94 — Patricio Freire.

Checklist Insider's 2026 Topps Chrome UFC checklist lists him verbatim as '94 Patricio Freire RC', and SportsCardsPro's card page for 2026 Topps Chrome UFC #94 answers 'Is Rookie Card: Yes'. Chrome released May 8, 2026, ahead of the other 2026 product that RC-flags him (Stadium Club UFC #171, August 14, 2026). No Topps UFC product before it contains him: 2025 Topps Chrome UFC (June 27, 2025), 2025 Topps Midnight UFC (August 8, 2025), 2025 Topps Knockout UFC (October 24, 2025) and 2025 Topps Stadium Club UFC (January 23, 2026) all returned no Freire or Pitbull line. His only earlier card, 2025 Panini Contenders PFL Crown Jewels #5, is an insert with no RC designation — SportsCardsPro's entry for it states it is not a rookie card.
