Patricio Freire

Bellator's most decorated champion spent fifteen years without a trading card. No licensed Bellator card programme is documented before 2024, and the Panini Instant Bellator issues that finally appeared that year — after PFL bought the promotion and signed with Panini — do not include him, so his four title reigns produced nothing at all. The first confirmed Patricio Pitbull card is a 2025 Panini Contenders PFL Crown Jewels insert, #5, issued months after he had already signed with the UFC. Everything else is 2026 Topps: a genuine RC-logo rookie at #94 in Chrome, at an age when most fighters are being printed as legends.

Rookie card

2026 Topps Chrome UFC #94

His rookie card, and his first card in a UFC-licensed product, arriving thirteen months after his UFC debut and twenty-two years into his professional career. Topps skipped him in every 2025 UFC release, so the Chrome refractor ladder is where a Pitbull collection effectively starts: the serial-numbered tiers from Gold /50 down to the SuperFractor 1/1 are the only scarce base-card versions he has.

Commonly misidentified

Patricio is routinely confused with his older brother Patricky 'Pitbull' Freire, who has his own cards — including 2025 Panini Combat Anthology MMA Stars Signatures #26, a Patricky card that listings sometimes shorten to 'Pitbull'. Any card captioned only 'Pitbull' needs the first name checked. Panini spells him 'Patrício Pitbull' while Topps spells him 'Patricio Freire', so the same fighter files under two names.

Card milestones

Five separate questions, kept separate. How these are defined.

The evidence behind each
  • 2025Earliest licensed card — Checklist Insider's 2025 Panini Contenders PFL checklist prints 'Crown Jewels #5 - Featherweight' for Patricio Pitbull and lists him nowhere else in the product, including the 100-card Season Ticket base set. No earlier card of him appears in any checklist source, and no Panini Instant Bellator card of him surfaced.
  • 2025First MMA card — Same Checklist Insider checklist. Nothing from 2010-2024 could be found in any catalogue, registry or checklist.
  • 2026First UFC card — Checklist Insider's 2026 Topps Chrome UFC checklist prints '94 Patricio Freire RC'. No Topps UFC product before it contains him: checked and negative for 2025 Topps Chrome UFC (27 June 2025), 2025 Topps Midnight UFC (8 August 2025), 2025 Topps Knockout UFC (24 October 2025), 2025 Topps Finest UFC (7 November 2025), 2025 Topps Royalty UFC (6 February 2026) and 2025 Topps Stadium Club UFC.
  • 2026First certified autograph — Checklist Insider prints 'BAV-PL Patricio Freire' in the Base Autographs subset, SportsCardsPro catalogues the Refractor as 2026 Topps Chrome UFC Autograph #BAV-PL, and a market listing titles it '2026 Topps Chrome UFC Patricio Freire Auto RC Rookie #BAV-PL'. No autograph of him exists in any earlier product.
  • 2026Recognized rookie card — Checklist Insider prints the line verbatim as '94 Patricio Freire RC' in a checklist that applies RC markers throughout (for example '4 Gabriel Santos RC'), and SportsCardsPro's card page for 2026 Topps Chrome UFC #94 answers 'Is Rookie Card: Yes'. 2026 Topps Stadium Club UFC #171 carries the same designation three months later.

Card history

For fifteen years the most decorated champion in Bellator history had no trading card at all. He debuted at Bellator 15 in April 2010 and held the featherweight title three times and the lightweight title once, and no licensed Bellator card programme is documented at any point before 2024 — so there is nothing from any of it. The promotion did get a partner eventually, after PFL bought it in November 2023 and signed with Panini in June 2024, but the eight-card 2024 Instant Bellator programme was built around that year's Champions Series and he is not in it. The naming is its own trap: Panini files him as 'Patrício Pitbull' and Topps as 'Patricio Freire', while his older brother Patricky 'Pitbull' Freire has cards of his own, so a listing that says only 'Pitbull' identifies nothing.

His first card came on his way out of the promotion that made him. Panini's 2025 Contenders PFL, released July 18, 2025, covered the Bellator names PFL had absorbed, and he appears exactly once, as Crown Jewels #5 — the product's title-holder insert. He is not in the 100-card Season Ticket base set, having signed with the UFC in February 2025, five months before the release. That single insert is the whole of his non-UFC cardboard, and it carries no rookie designation.

Topps skipped him through every 2025 UFC release — Chrome, Midnight, Knockout and Stadium Club all pass him over — and then printed him as a rookie. 2026 Topps Chrome UFC, out May 8, 2026, lists him as '94 Patricio Freire RC', thirteen months after his UFC debut and twenty-two years into his professional career, and its refractor ladder from Magenta /399 down through Gold /50, Orange /25, Black /10, Red /5 and the SuperFractor 1/1 gives him his first scarce base cards. The same product holds his first certified autograph, Base Autographs #BAV-PL, with a Refractor version catalogued; checklists disagree about which other 2026 Chrome autograph subsets contain him, so only that card is recorded.

2026 Topps Midnight UFC, two weeks later on May 22, left him out of its 100-card base set but used him three times: Lunar Apex #LA-19, whose ladder runs Moon Beam, Dusk /75, Moonrise /25, Midnight /12, Daybreak /5 and Black Light 1/1; Zero Hour #ZH-14; and Rookie Relic Autographs #RRA-PP, his first card to pair a signature with a swatch, with a Daybreak /5 confirmed. 2026 Topps Stadium Club UFC then gave him a second RC-flagged base card at #171 on August 14, 2026 — two rookie logos inside four months, which is what happens when a checklist picks a fighter up mid-career. Seven cards in total, all but one of them from a single year.

Card eras

2010–2024
Fifteen Bellator years, no cardboard

He debuted at Bellator 15 in April 2010 and held the featherweight title three times and the lightweight title once, with no licensed card of him from this period. No licensed Bellator trading-card programme is documented before 2024, and Panini's Instant Bellator issues of that year — an eight-card programme built around the 2024 Bellator Champions Series — do not include him. No independent database confirmation of any Bellator-era Pitbull card has been found.

2025
First card, on his way out the door

Panini's 2025 Contenders PFL (July 18, 2025) covered the Bellator names PFL had absorbed. Patricio appears once, as Crown Jewels #5, and not in the 100-card Season Ticket base set — he had signed with the UFC in February 2025. It is the only confirmed card of his non-UFC career.

2026
A 38-year-old rookie card

2026 Topps Chrome UFC (May 8, 2026) gave him base #94 with a printed RC logo and his first certified autograph, Base Autographs #BAV-PL. Topps' RC flag tracks the first UFC-licensed issue, not experience, so a fighter with more than forty pro fights carries a rookie card.

2026
Midnight inserts and the first relic autograph

2026 Topps Midnight UFC (May 22, 2026) skipped him in the base set but used him in Lunar Apex #LA-19, Zero Hour #ZH-14 and Rookie Relic Autographs #RRA-PP — his first card combining an autograph with memorabilia, with a Daybreak /5 parallel confirmed.

2026
Second rookie-flagged base card

2026 Topps Stadium Club UFC (August 14, 2026) carries him at #171, again RC-flagged. Two RC-logo base cards inside four months is the shape of a fighter Topps picked up mid-career rather than a prospect.

Patricio Freire's rookie card: 2026 Topps Chrome UFC #94 — Patricio Freire.

Checklist Insider's 2026 Topps Chrome UFC checklist lists him verbatim as '94 Patricio Freire RC', and SportsCardsPro's card page for 2026 Topps Chrome UFC #94 answers 'Is Rookie Card: Yes'. Chrome released May 8, 2026, ahead of the other 2026 product that RC-flags him (Stadium Club UFC #171, August 14, 2026). No Topps UFC product before it contains him: 2025 Topps Chrome UFC (June 27, 2025), 2025 Topps Midnight UFC (August 8, 2025), 2025 Topps Knockout UFC (October 24, 2025) and 2025 Topps Stadium Club UFC (January 23, 2026) all returned no Freire or Pitbull line. His only earlier card, 2025 Panini Contenders PFL Crown Jewels #5, is an insert with no RC designation — SportsCardsPro's entry for it states it is not a rookie card.
