Why this card matters

The earliest licensed Kimbo Slice card located anywhere, and his first certified autograph. Topps signed the whole 16-man Ultimate Fighter 10 heavyweight cast for Round 2 — Kimbo, Roy Nelson, Matt Mitrione, Brendan Schaub, Marcus Jones and the rest — which means Kimbo's card history begins with a signature rather than a base card. He died in June 2016, so the pool of genuine Kimbo autographs is fixed and this is the first of them.

Identification

Own this card? Contribute a scan.

  • Card number carries the TUF- prefix; Kimbo is TUF-KS
  • Part of a 16-card subset matching the TUF 10 heavyweight cast (TUF-AW Abe Wagner through TUF-ZJ Zak Jensen)
  • Round 2 base set runs 1-150; this subset's lettered numbering is separate from it
  • Sits alongside a separate TUF Season 9 Autographs subset in the same product — check the prefix letters against the cast, not just the 'TUF' prefix
  • Topps' September 2009 announcement of the TUF 10 signing programme describes on-card signing; no source reached states whether this card's signature is on-card or on a sticker, so the archive does not assert either
  • Some copies are signed 'Kevin Ferguson' rather than 'Kimbo'; that is a signature variation of this card, markedly scarcer, and not a separate issue

Disputed

Sources disagree

Naming only. Jeff Allender's checklist names the subset 'TUF Season 10 Autographs' and lists TUF-KS Kimbo Slice; PSA catalogues it as '2009 Topps UFC TUF Season 10 Autograph'; eBay's catalogue carries it as '2009 Topps UFC - The Ultimate Fighter Season 10 Autographs Kimbo Slice #TUF-KS'. Cardboard Connection's Round 2 review mentions a 16-contestant signed subset but attributes it to 'The Ultimate Fighter #9 Series', which is the only conflict left. MMAWeekly reported the signatures as on-card when Topps announced them in September 2009.

Probable

2009 Topps UFC Round 2 TUF Season 10 Autographs #TUF-KS — Kimbo Slice.

Uncertain

Only nslists.com names the subset 'TUF Season 10 Autographs' and lists TUF-KS Kimbo Slice. Cardboard Connection's Round 2 review mentions a 16-contestant signed subset but attributes it to 'The Ultimate Fighter #9 Series'. SportsCardsPro has no page for the subset under the slugs tried, and collectibles.com's Round 2 set page does not surface it. Whether the signature is on-card or on a sticker is not stated by any source reached.
