Why this is the rookie

TCDB's Edwards profile begins in 2015 with two RC-flagged cards: 2015 Topps UFC Champions #171 (released October 28, 2015) and 2015 Topps UFC Chronicles #255 (TCDB date February 3, 2016). Topps' own Ripped blog (July 24, 2024) names the 2015 Champions card as his rookie card, and the card front carries the RC logo. Champions is the earlier of the two, so it is the pick; Chronicles #255 is a legitimate second RC-flagged card rather than a competing claim.

Edwards' earliest card, released October 28, 2015, about a year after his UFC debut. Topps' Ripped blog calls it his rookie card and notes the back covers his first three UFC fights (2–1). Numbered parallels run from Black /188 down to Platinum 1/1.

Commonly misidentified

eBay listings sell after-market signed 2015 Topps cards as 'rookie autos'; there is no Topps-certified autograph version of #171 on TCDB. 2015 Chronicles #255 is sometimes sold as his first card, but Champions came out first.
