Why this is the rookie

TCDB's Masvidal cards start with 2014 Topps UFC Champions #129, flagged RC, and MMA Rookies names it his 'True Rookie Card', with 2015 Topps UFC Chronicles #195 as an 'other rookie'. TCDB lists no pre-2014 licensed cards from his Strikeforce or regional years.

Masvidal's first licensed card came more than a decade into his pro career (debut 2003) and about a year after his UFC debut (UFC on Fox 7, April 2013). TCDB lists no earlier cards, and nothing from his 2011–2012 Strikeforce run. The Gold Champions Predictor /25 and Platinum 1/1 sit at the top of its parallel run.

Commonly misidentified

Silver #129 (an unnumbered parallel) is easy to mistake for the base RC in photos. SportsCardsPro's 'Is Rookie Card: No' field on #129 doesn't match TCDB's RC flag.
