Why this is the rookie

TCDB lists no Makhachev card before 2019, and 2019 Topps Chrome UFC #92 is the only card on his TCDB profile flagged RC. A Goldin lot (Gold Refractor /50, PSA 10) and eBay listings (SGC-graded, 'Features: Rookie') both sell #92 as his rookie. TCDB's rookie lists for 2021 and 2022 Panini Prizm UFC do not include him, and PSA's Makhachev Prizm #125 rainbow registry shows no RC designation.

His only RC-flagged card on TCDB and, per TCDB, his first card of any kind, issued more than four years after his UFC debut. The numbered refractors run from Green /99 down to the SuperFractor 1/1.

Commonly misidentified

TCDB, Goldin and eBay graded listings all point to 2019 Topps Chrome UFC #92, and no source in the file calls any other card his RC. The mix-ups: some collectors and listings call his first Panini flagship cards (2022 Prizm #125, Select #29, Chronicles #102) his 'Panini rookie', but none carries an RC flag on TCDB or PSA; the 2021 Panini Instant #26 and 2021 Immaculate #25 are his earliest Panini cards, not rookies; and one collecting guide (cardcenteringtool.com) calls the rookie '2019 Topps UFC Chrome #125', mixing up the Chrome number (#92) with his 2022 Prizm number.
