Why this card matters

Strickland's first card of any kind, released 25 March 2022 — eight years and one month after his UFC debut. Panini Prizm UFC was the earliest 2022 UFC release, which is why this is the card the market and MMA Rookies settle on as the true rookie rather than the Donruss, Select or Optic Rated Rookies that followed. Because Topps never made a Strickland card during its 2009-2020 UFC licence, there is nothing at all in front of it.

  • 2022 Prizm UFC splits the base run into 100 horizontal and 100 vertical layouts — check which layout #172 uses before matching a raw scan to a parallel
  • Base card is unserialled; a Silver Prizm exists with no serial, so base and Silver are told apart only by the refractive finish
  • No printed RC logo — Panini's UFC base cards do not carry one, which is why the rookie question is settled by checklists rather than by the card itself

MMA Rookies picks #172 and it is also the earliest by release date (25 March 2022 vs 6 May 2022 for Donruss), but eBay and grader labels market the Select #11, Donruss #206, Optic #111 and Chronicles #76 cards as 'Rookie RC' too. Separately, the per-card parallel list above is taken from the set-level parallel run published by Cardboard Connection; only the Silver, Teal and Blue Shimmer FOTL versions of #172 were seen individually.
